
Siobhan Fitzpatrick Austin (aka Siobhan Fitzpatrick) is the Marketing & Communications Specialist for the Visiting Nurse Association of the Treasure Coast (VNA) in Vero Beach, Florida. She's responsible for writing annual reports, brochures, an e-newsletter, social media posts, print ads, press releases and SEO-optimized copy for VNATC.com, including its blog. She also edits other writers.
Siobhan is the Founder of SistersGeographic (www.SistersGeographic.org), a web-based nonprofit that raises awareness about women's and girls' issues through articles and the arts. Siobhan has always been passionate about women's issues and is particularly passionate about helping women-in-need in the developing world. Siobhan was the editor for a college journalism intern program at SistersGeographic.
Siobhan earned her MS from Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism and her BA from the University of Virginia. She has extensive experience as a journalist and has written (and edited and researched) on numerous subjects including the arts, health, business, fashion, spirituality, profiles, home décor, personal essays and travel. Some of the publications she has written for include The New York Post, Women's Wear Daily - Paris, Indian River Magazine, Romantic Homes, The Vero Beach Newsweekly, Speak, Good Housekeeping, Natural Health, ELLE, and many more. Siobhan is also the co-author of "Frommer's Paris From $80 A Day."
Siobhan is a playwright, and her new play REHAB was recently produced at The Producers' Club in Manhattan to sell-out audiences (www.RehabPlay.Info). Another play that she penned, "Waking Kya," the riveting story of an African refugee woman, has been produced at numerous venues throughout the United States, including Symphony Space in Manhattan, Northwestern University, New Rochelle College, Marymount Manhattan College, and Florida Atlantic University. "Waking Kya" was awarded entrance into Manhattan's competitive Fringe Festival. Ticket sales from Waking Kya have often raised money for women's organizations, including the New York City-based Women's Refugee Commission.
In addition, Siobhan is a poet and author of "Pilgrimage – My Spiritual Journey From Barcelona To Chang Mai As Seen Through A Lens And Poetry" (SG 2014), and has been published in an anthology, "Fuse Week Up and Coming Poets" (Rattapallax 2004).
Siobhan has worked as a fact-checker at numerous women's magazines and has a strong background in copywriting that includes a Senior Copywriter position she held at Abercrombie & Kent (A&K), a luxury travel company. She has written ad-copy for other companies as well including a top Los Angeles commercial director, Joe Pytka, and Jones & Jones Advertising in Vero Beach, Florida.
As an educator, Siobhan has worked as an Adjunct Professor of print journalism (newspapers and magazines) at Marymount Manhattan College in New York City, and an Adjunct Professor of college essay writing at Lewis University in Romeoville, Il. She also teaches "Heal Yourself Through Creative Writing" as a volunteer for a mental health drop-in center.
